Direct Conversion of Windows NT4, 2000, XP, 2003
to Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 and VMware
No Reboot: Less Risk
No reboot is required at any stage during the conversion process, which eliminates production server loss risk, and allows the entire conversion process to be run via remote desktop.
Disk Synchronization: Less Downtime
New in P>V 3.0: Resynchronize a virtual disk with the origin machine any time after initial conversion. This enables repeated patch testing, backup, and Disaster Recovery. Disk synchronization significantly reduces the time a server is unavailable during a conversion, allowing more conversions per maintenance period.
Extensive Hardware Support
P>V Direct uses existing Windows drivers to read disks, and existing SAN mappings to read external storage, ensuring that all types of hardware are supported.
Resize Disks & Partitions: Save Space
Windows NTFS partitions can be resized. Both partitions and entire disks can be excluded from transfer, reducing disk space requirements.
Microsoft Dynamic Disk Support
Convert all dynamic disks on a single disk, as well as software mirrored NT4 disks.
Flexible VM Network Properties
The VM can have either the exact settings of the origin machine, or its Windows Machine Name and IP address can be set remotely.
Record & Schedule Conversions
Conversion settings can be recorded and replayed at preset times, enabling a VM to be regularly synchronized with an origin server without manual intervention.
Run Parallel Conversions
Because the VM disk is written using a dedicated OS running within the VM, multiple conversions can be run in parallel, increasing the number of possible conversions in a maintenance window.
