Backup Recovery and Media Services (BRMS)

BRMS Installation and Configuration

Backup, Recovery and Media Services is set up to help you implement a disciplined approach to managing your backups, and will provide you with an orderly way to retrieve lost or damaged data. BRMS will not only help you manage your routine nightly and weekly backups, but will also manage your most critical and complex backups, including online backups of Lotus servers. BRMS will give you a detailed step by step printout of your night backup in order to recover your system fully in the event of a disaster or failure. 

In addition to these backup and recovery features, BRMS will enable you to track all of your backup media from time of creation to expiration time. You will no longer have to keep track of which backup items are on which volumes, and worry that you will accidentally write over active data.

Is your backup window getting smaller and smaller but you backup time seems to be getting longer and longer?  BRMS can help you reduce your backup window in more ways than one.  One way is by allowing you to perform save changed objects.  The media portion of BRMS can track all the objects changed on a nightly basis, no more backing up entire libraries or even your system on a nightly basis.  If your system has more than one tape drive BRMS will take full advantage of the parallel save (and restore), using as many tape drives available to the system.
